Round Rock is a great place to live and work, but it can be hard to know what there is to do. That’s why I’ve compiled this list of the best things that you can do in Round Rock! These are some of my favorite places near me that have something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for an indoor activity during the winter or just want to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, these are some of the best activities that Round Rock has on offer.

The Round Rock is known for its award-winning Round Rock Select baseball team, the Round Rock Express. Round Rock is also home to a number of other teams as well, including RoundRock FC and RoundRock Rugby Union.

The town’s name comes from a large rock formation in Williamson County that was used by Native Americans for ceremonies around 1000 AD. The rocks still stand today on the west side of Brushy Creek near Highway 183 and RM 1431. A plaque at Brushy Creek Park commemorates this sacred site with its modern-day name: “Round Top.”

Round Rock Express is the Round Rock’s Minor League Baseball team. Tracey Round, owner of a Round Rock sporting goods store, and Dallas businessman Richard Geren purchased the Wichita Wranglers for $11 million in 2008. The new ownership group contracted with city leaders to move the franchise to Round Rock as part of an agreement that would have Round Hill Investments pay $200 annually for 60 years worth of improvements at Dell Diamond (now known as Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium).

Brushy Creek Trail is a gorgeous Hike and Bike trail that weaves through the hills of Round Rock. There are many different types of terrain to explore, from steep inclines up rocky cliffs to soft rolling slopes across prairies with wildflowers in season.

There’s always plenty of wildlife around as well! Brushy Creek Trail provides great opportunities for bird watching – you might spot hawks or turkey vultures circling high overhead while searching for prey below. Cottontail rabbits dart back and forth between brush piles looking for food sources, deer trails criss-cross the earth along stream beds, and lizards sun themselves on branches waiting patiently to be noticed by hungry birds.

 

3. Try Geocaching in Round Rock

Geocaching is a game where you use a GPS to find things. Geocaching is a fun activity that’s been popular for the past 15 years. Geocaches can be found all over Round Rock and you never know what will happen when you find one – sometimes they’re filled with prizes, other times it might just have some snacks inside! Geocache locations are posted on their website as well, so if you don’t want to get out of your car – or maybe in the wintertime- Geocaching has something for everyone.

Geocaches are hidden across RoundRock, Texas. This game uses GPS coordinates to locate things like toys or food items left by previous players. The best part about Geocaching is that Geocaches are always changing. You never know what you’re going to find! Geocache locations can be found on their website as well, so if you don’t want to get out of your car or maybe in the wintertime Geocaching is for everyone!

 

4. Visit Play for All Abilities Park

The Play for All Abilities Park is a park designed especially for children and adults of all abilities. With everything from ramps to an obstacle course, this park helps people with mobility issues or other physical limits enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment. The Play for All Abilities Park also provides games like bocce ball and table tennis so you can play without worrying about getting too much exercise!

Ever wanted to race around the speedway? It’s as easy as biking up and down the track. Although it may be hard work if you’re just starting out, many cyclists find that riding their bikes inside the speedway offers them great resistance training because they need to constantly keep pedaling.

5. Round Rock Memorial Park

This park provides a cool and shaded atmosphere with an abundance of trees. The Round Rock Memorial Park is a great place to spend an afternoon. It has many amenities including two playgrounds, picnic areas with shaded tables and benches seating, walking trails, tennis courts where you can take lessons from RoundRock Racquet Club members, horseshoe pits at Cushman Road entrance, two large air-conditioned pavilions that are available on a reservation basis (for weddings and events), plenty of trees and open spaces for wildlife viewing. With over 40 acres total it has something for everyone!

Round Rock’s Old Settler Tree (a 400-year old live oak tree) is near the front of the park and other historical features include a granite monument to honor Confederate veterans in Round Rock, as well as an original caboose.

Round Rock Donuts is famous for its orange hue and oversized size. Round Rock Donuts was opened in 1952 and they’re open 24 hours a day, so you can stop by anytime for one of their famous donuts or breakfast sandwiches!

More than 2,000 doughnuts are made every day at the bakery. They are hand-rolled, cut, fried, and iced. Round Rock Donuts also has a variety of old-fashioned donuts, including chocolate iced with rainbow sprinkles, red velvet, and apple fritters.

The doughnuts are orange in color. But they do not have any orange flavoring. Round Rock Doughnuts sells more than 2k doughnuts a day. Round Rock Donuts also provides catering services for special events and weddings.

7. Zip Line at Joanne Land Playground

The Parks and Recreation Department got lucky when they partnered with Miracle Recreation Equipment Company to install the first-of-its-kind equipment at the park. Joanne Land Playground is now home to a family-friendly zipline that consists of two courses. The Joanne course offers three zip lines, including one for little kids and novice riders.

The Joanne Course also includes an accessible course with ramps for those who are wheelchair-bound or have difficulty walking over more rugged terrain. This level has two zip lines — one each for children and adults (or novice) riders.”

If you’re looking to stay indoors during the winter months, be sure not to miss out on JoAnne’s Land Playground! There’s plenty of things to do there as well, like go sledding down their hill made from recycled tires.

This park has something to offer for everyone. Brushy creek crossing runs through the center of the park giving residents a beautiful place to enjoy nature as well as play in it!

The Brushy Creek Crossing at Round Rock marked a convenient low-water crossing for wagons, horses, and cattle. Brushy Creek is also a recreational area with miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

9. Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World Feel The Adventure

The Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is the outdoor attraction of Round Rock. Bass Pro has a great exhibit for kids, where they can learn about nature and wildlife in an interactive way – with live animals to touch! In addition, Bass Pro offers fishing, hunting, kayaking, biking, and more as well as educational events like archery classes and fly-fishing seminars.

Located just off IH 35 near Northpark Mall this store is open every day from Monday through Friday from 09:00 am until 21:00 pm on Saturdays from 08:30 am until 19:30pmand finally Sundays are closed. The Bass Pro shop also features free parking so guests have plenty of space to explore outdoors all day long.

This company is famous for its large stores and hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear. Bass Pro Shops offer a complete family experience with live animals to touch, educational events like archery classes, and fly-fishing seminars. With a mix of old favorites like the family-friendly, laid-back atmosphere mixed in with new dining experiences there’s something for everyone here. You can even find some hidden gems that offer vintage goods or locally made items too!

If you’re looking for an indoor activity during the winter months Downtown Round Rock has just what you need; it features two movie theaters that will satisfy your craving for a good film selection and refreshments as well as live theater performances at The New Art Theater Company all without ever leaving town!

If you’re looking for something more relaxing then Sunrise Yoga has your answer; it offers classes from gentle flow yoga designed specifically for beginners through challenging hot vinyasa classes that will keep even the most experienced yogi coming back again and again.

A family-friendly water park has a lazy river, a water playground, and slides. Visit Rock’n River Water Park with your kids. They will love it!

This is a great water park, It has many different types of slides and tipping buckets that are perfect for kids to enjoy themselves in. I would recommend this waterpark if you have children with you because they’re going to love it!

Rock’n River Water Park might not be as large or thrilling as other parks but it still offers plenty of fun activities for your enjoyment. If you’re looking for an indoor activity during the winter then Rock’n River will give everyone something to do and keep them entertained all day long. One thing I really like about Rock’n River is that there’s so much more than just swimming pools, which means no one gets bored here!

12. Old Settlers Park

Old Settlers Park is one of the best places to enjoy the outdoors in Round Rock. The park has lots of things to do. It’s a great spot to have a picnic, enjoy the river, or just take in some of that fresh air. Old Settlers Park has plenty for kids and adults alike to do so you can spend your day there without running out of things to do!

The park has 20 baseball fields and 12 tennis courts which cover 645 acres, a dog park, two soccer fields, a BMX track and so much more. Old Settlers Park is home to the crown jewel of Round Rock: the Old Settler’s Center which includes an auditorium, amphitheater, and natural history museum depicting life in Central Texas during pioneer days.

Bring your fishing rod and see if you can catch anything! at the small lake at Old Settlers Park. There are plenty of paved trails to walk, bike, or jog on so if you’re not a fan of the outdoors then there’s still something for everyone!

You can spend your morning at the park and head over to Old Round Rock Barbecue Co. in Downtown Round Rock for lunch where they serve authentic Texas-style barbecue.

 

13. The Round Rock Express at The Dell Diamond

Watch the future stars of baseball. This is a tradition in America. Dell Diamond hosts the Round Rock Express, a team in the Texas League.

This is an amazing experience for any baseball fan as well as those with no previous knowledge of the sport! Dell Diamond has some great food options they several delicious concessions stands serving up your favorites from burgers to ballpark nachos and there are often other activities going on such as concerts or festivals that make this event even more enjoyable.

The Dell Diamond is where you can watch future stars of America’s favorite pastime playing at their own home stadium: The Dell Diamond, one of two minor league ballparks located within Austin city limits (the other being College Station).

14. Chisholm Trail Crossing Park

Many years ago, the storied Chisholm Trail once passed through the area now known as Round Rock. Today, Chisholm Trail Crossing Park serves as a testament to the importance of this area’s history.

This is one of my favorite places in Round Rock because it has plenty of shady trees for picnics and other outdoor activities during the summer. There are also bronze cattle sculptures that commemorate some of Texas’ most notable ranchers from days gone by.

Chisholm Trail Crossing Park offers picnic areas with shade trees perfect for onsite dining or an afternoon break from shopping at Chisholming Oaks Mall just down the street.

The park features Bronze Cattle Sculptures honoring prominent Texans.

 

15. Attend the 4th of July Parade in Downtown Round Rock

Round Rock 4th of July Parade is Round Rock’s largest annual event, attracting over 100,000 spectators annually. Come early to find a seat!

Route: The parade begins at the Round Rock City Hall and will travel south on Main Street before turning west onto E Liberty Avenue and ending in downtown Round Rock.

Round Rock Texas knows how to celebrate Independence Day! We will celebrate the 4th of July with a full day of patriotic festivities including a parade, festival, carnival, music, and fireworks.
