Beavers Bend State Park is a nature lover’s paradise offering various­ous hiking trails to explore beavers bend. Hikes include:

Bald Hill Trail – A moderate hike of about a mile in length that leads you through scenic woodlands and up an open mountain plateau at the top of Bald Hill.

Pine Springs Loop Trail- This trail is one of the most popular hikes be­cause it provides visitors with beaver ponds, creeks, and beautiful forest views while being only a short distance from Broken Bow Lake itself.

3. Fishing and Fly Fishing at Lower Mountain Fork River

It is not easy to find the Lower Mountain Fork River. It runs deep into the mountain and has a number of significant tributaries as well, each of which offers something different for fishermen who come looking for trout or bass. The Lower Mountain Fork river basin drains an area that includes parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and Missouri.

As you head north from Broken Bow Lake on Highway 259, there are two access points about four miles apart: Big Creek Road (FS Rd 109) and Lower Mountain Fork Access Site (marked with brown signage). There is also Lower Mountain Fork Campground situated five miles up Hwy 259 from Broken Bow Lake in McCurtain County; it too provides fishing opportunities but this site only caters to tent camper who loves fishing or hiking. Pinch-Hitting Lower Mountain Fork River Park Ranger, Chip Rogers, says this is a good place to start fishing for trout and bass as it has fairly easy access from the highway.

The Lower Mountain Fork Access Site also offers boat ramps which means that fishermen can explore some of the other tributaries in the area by water.

Shopping for some seafood before your trip? Beavers Bend Marina has it all from bait to tackle as well as live fish, ice packs, fishing licenses, and boat rentals. The marina is located right on Broken Bow Lake so you’ll also find plenty of water activities including jet skis and boats offered at affordable rates.

Horseback riding in Broken Bow is so much fun because you get to ride through Glover River and Kiamichi Mountains; which are both beautiful areas. There is a trail go through Ouachita National Forest and you can rent ATV AT Bandits ATV Rentals. The ATVs come with a trailer and there are trails close to the rental office but if you want to explore, this is something you should do!

9. Hochatown Petting Zoo

Hochatown Petting Zoo is a small town zoo that’s about an hour from Broken Bow. It provides the opportunity for guests to see animals up close and pet them too! This includes goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and horses.

Visitors can also enjoy seeing some of Oklahoma’s most exotic birds like peacocks or flamingos as well as giraffes or zebras while they’re here. There are other attractions there such as bumper boats in the water park section or taking a ride on the carousel which has over 20 hand-carved wooden figures including bears, buffalo, and deer.

The Hochatown Petting Zoo is also a wildlife rehabilitation center. You can see animals that you might not find at other petting zoos, like raccoons and skunks.

Forest Heritage Center or Forest Heritage Center Museum is located in downtown Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and was established by The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1937 to preserve the disappearing timber heritage of Southern Oklahoma’s vast pine forests.

There are two types of trips offered: Train rides that last about 45 minutes through scenic Beavers Bend National Forest (the depot can be found just outside of town) and trail rides lasting one hour.

For those who don’t have their own horses, there’s no need to worry because Beavers Bend has them available too! The park is open year-round making this something you might want to do before summer ends – not only will it give you some great photo opportunities but also provide the chance to enjoy these adventures.
